122 Credits required for CIS Degree
The Computer Information Systems major offers career-minded students the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently utilize information systems and related technology to support the functional areas of a business, including accounting, human resources, international business, finance, marketing, and management. The major combines classroom teaching and hands-on experience that allows students to develop skills in programming and computer languages, computer architecture and infrastructure, data and information management, web development, systems analysis and design, data communications, networking, and project management. Students are also provided with a strong integrated liberal arts foundation. This supports the program’s belief that business and technology managers must be well-rounded individuals who are able to not only communicate effectively in both a written and oral format, but can also respond quickly and proactively to an ever-changing and progressive information systems and technology environment. Students supplement classroom teaching with practical experience acquired through an internship focused on a Computer Information Systems discipline.
