Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor – Medical Laboratory Science


JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:

The Neumann University School of Nursing & Health Sciences is seeking candidates with a background in Medical Laboratory Science and with university-level teaching experience for a full-time, 9-month faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) to begin in August 2024. We are hoping to hire a colleague who can contribute in substantive ways to continue expanding the frontiers of our Medical Laboratory Science Program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory classes in immunohematology, clinical chemistry, hematology, molecular diagnostics, hemostasis/body fluids as needed,
  • Dedicated contribution to the assessment, revision, and development of the MLS curriculum for the program.
  • Ensure that the materials delivered to students, in person and/or through distance-learning, are in full compliance with the standards required by the accreditation agency.
  • Engage in both scholarly activities as well as perform service responsibilities to the university community, the program, and the profession.
  • Maintain organizational, communication and writing skills; paying attention to details, making independent decisions towards enhancing the objectives of the program, including excellent advising and counseling skills for the students; working with Educational and Clinical Site Educators to provide students with high practicum experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean or Program Director.
  • The standard teaching load at Neumann University is twelve credits per academic semester, consisting of a mixture of three-credit lectures and two-credit labs.
  • Neumann expects full-time faculty to engage in scholarship and research on an ongoing basis, to perform committee service and academic advising, and to engage in community service, broadly defined.

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates with a minimum qualification of a Masters degree (Ph.D. preferred) from a regionally accredited college or university and a current clinical laboratory science certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), and a 2-year teaching or work experience in a clinical or medical laboratory science setting are required.
  • Candidates enrolled in a doctoral degree program with a confirmed graduation/defense date will be considered.
  • Candidates with a knowledge of the accreditation process as stipulated by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) would be an advantage but is not required.
