Access the Needed Information
Searching the library databases for articles is the most commonly addressed part of the resaerch process. Students should have developed an understanding of their topic and what kind of articles they are looking for before they search the library databases. Once they are ready, they can develop and research plan and find articles.
Use the exercises below to guide students through their database searching.
- Access InformationThis document can be a benchmark that students complete to demonstrate how they are searching for articles. It helps them recognize what they should be doing as they search.
- Research PlanThis research plan can help students turn their topic into a question or thesis and draw keywords out of that question or thesis to search in the databases.
- Website AssessmentIf students are using websites in addition to journal articles, use this worksheet to have them assess what they find as they are searching.
