Information Literacy Toolbox for Faculty

Access and Use Information Ethically and Legally

While the content and argument of a research paper should always be the primary focus, students correctly citing the resources they use is also important. Correct citation should be stressed as important to avoid plagiarism and so a reader of their paper can track down their references.

There are several resources students can use to help them create or check their citations. One of the best open access online resources is the OWL at Purdue , which has APA and MLA guides as well as sample citations and sample papers. Introducing students to this site can help them navigate how to properly use citations in their papers.

Neumann University Library has also created guides for APA and MLA. Encourage students to use the guides attached below (that are also available in the library) for further assistance.
